Surprise!!!!

Mike, remember the surprise I was telling you about? Well I think I was able to get something a little better. Let me give the folks reading this a little history first. Some of you may know and some of you may not....but Mike is a big soccer fan. actually I think he is a fan of anything that includes a ball!! Just kidding Mike!!!!

The Virginia Beach Mariners professional soccer team is a USL First Division team, playing under the umbrella of United Soccer Leagues (USL), the largest organization of soccer leagues in North America. (I work at the stadium, part-time)

initially I was trying to get a poster of team with their signatures. When I talked to the General Manager he was more than willing to have it done. I was to pick it up tonight after work, well this is what he gave me instead....I hope you like it! Obviously I can't mail it to you so I thought I would do the next best thing and take a picture and post it here on the blog. It will be here when you come home.

I hope you like it. When I picked it up tonight, the GM said he was still going to try to get a poster as well. Somehow or another the one he did have the team sign got mixed up with another set they signed for their promotion tonight. So we'll see. I think the ball is better though.

Mike is always guessing everything, he is so hard to surprise, but I'm almost positive he didn't get this one, right Mike? Even if you did, I don't want to know!!!! LOL

Not much else to say and I am tired so I will go....

Until next time....

I LOVE YOU MIKE!!!!

Another New Location...

Well, Mike has traveled yet again to another FOB. He is now at FOB Sykes. As far as I know it is North of FOB Speicher. As far as we know now he will only be at this FOB for a short "visit" and then he is supposed to go back to Speicher.....but of course all this can change. He was able to call when he arrived so I would know he arrived safe & sound. I ALWAYS worry about him when he is traveling "outside" of the wire.

He isn't very happy with the conditions of this FOB. He is sharing a very small room with 2 other guys and they have cots instead of beds. He is going to meet up with one of the guys he went through training with, Pat, who is actually located there, tomorrow and hopefully will find out that it isn't as bad as his first impression. Each FOB has it's own rules and regulations so he never knows what to expect when he goes to a new one. I just hope he doesn't have to be there long. They at least deserve a bed to sleep in. He said he will take pictures of the CHU's and forward. When I talked to him, he was very tired, it was 1200 (midnight) his time and he had been up all day working at Speicher before he left. I'm hoping he will be able to get a good nights rest, I doubt it though sleeping on a cot.

Even though his first impression wasn't great, he still has an amazing attitude. I was the one who was getting upset and frustrated. He's like Kym, "it is what it is" and I will be alright. I just get upset when I think of him there let alone, having to live under those conditions. He does have to remind me every now and then...he is proud of what he is doing and he wouldn't change a thing. I've got to respect that.

Not much else to report. I will post more tomorrow hopefully with some pictures.

I love you Mike...please stay safe!!!!

Lots and Lots of fun ;>)

Mike and I have been having a lot of fun chatting the last few days. It just seems we are getting closer and closer everyday! We can be so silly at times. Oh well, life is way to short to be serious all the time. My motto: If you don't have fun, it's your own damn fault. I haven't been this happy in a very long time. Life is so full of surprises. Who would have thought Mike and I would be where we are today. When he first found out about this assignment, I honestly thought it would be the end of us. I am so glad to be able to say otherwise. As hard as it is, I can't help but think (know) it has been good for us, as a couple. We have the opportunity to really get to know each other and communicate. I look at him now as my bestfriend. I know I can confide in him and it will stay with him and he will always give me his "honest" opinion. Which I truly value.

Not much has been happening here. Just trying to survive the heat. It has been absolutely horrible. I can't remember the last time we've had this kind of heat. They say it's was in 2002 but who knows. All I do know is it makes for very long nights.

Got a call from Brady the other day and he is really sick. He sounds horrible. We think it's a sinus infection, but he won't go to the Dr's, of course me being a Mom, I'm worried about him. I did talk to him last night and he did sound better and he said he's feeling a little better so it may have been a cold. I hope so, because if it is a sinus infection, it will only get worse. Oh well, enough of me being a doctor! Although I did stay at the Holiday Inn Express last night!!!!

I suppose I need to get back to work. One more thing.... If you haven't checked out the "Desert Periscope" blog, please do....his unit is having an American Cancer Society Relay for Life event. This event is very dear to my heart because my dad and my bother-in-law passed away with cancer. Which is another reason I am in the process of quitting. Yes I've been smoke free for three days! Check it out and if you can donate, thanks in advance.

Have a great day. I love you Mike!!!!

Happy August 2nd....

What's so significant about August 2nd? Nothing, I'm just happy to be alive! Not that anything happened, I woke up this morning feeling GREAT!!!! I've always said "When you wake up the next morning and your able to put your feet on the floor, than no matter what else happens it's a GREAT day....I don't think any of us would like the alternative!

Not much to post just wanted to write something! It really is hard to believe I've been home from Omaha a week already. I have been very busy tho. This week I've been trying to stay cool. We've had temperatures in the 100's and then with the heat factor it has been 115....I think I'm getting my wish....I wished I could go to Iraq...the only problem is I haven't left but I'm still getting close to the temperatures Mike's getting....It's the old adage....Be careful what you wish for, huh?

I hope each and everyone of you have a GREAT day!!!!

I love you Mike!!!!
